Professional Bio

Barton Maxwell is Special Counsel with Higgins, Hopkins, McLain & Roswell. Mr. Maxwell is an experienced litigator trying cases in district courts throughout the State of Colorado with an extremely high success rate for defense verdicts and the successful handling of appeals before the Colorado appellate courts and United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. His practice includes representing individuals and businesses in the defense of claims of wrongful death and catastrophic injuries, premises liability, property damage, product liability, auto and skiing accidents, employment, environmental and toxic tort and appeals. Over the last decade, Mr. Maxwell’s practice has also emphasized the defense of construction defect claims representing subcontractors, design professionals, developers, and general contractors. Mr. Maxwell achieved favorable results in hundreds of negotiations through informal and formal settlement conferences and frequent dismissals of matters brought against clients through summary judgment or walk-away dismissals. Mr. Maxwell received his Bachelor of Science from Colorado State University and Juris Doctor from University of Denver College of Law.
